As any vaper knows that there is nothing worse than looking forward to a good vape session and then having it derailed by something going wrong. Knowing how to fix device issues can get you back on the right track, heading towards the high-quality experience you deserve.
Here’s a little troubleshooting cheat sheet, because hey, issues can come up and sometimes you need a quick reference to straighten it out! Often times, a slight tweak will set you straight, and other times, it’ll take a little more effort. In both cases, here is a look at the most common vape issues, and what you can do fix them!
Lots of problems than cause leaks, from devices not being screwed on properly, to your tank being overfilled, so check these two things first. Another common culprit is the possibility of having cracked your tank, which will mean it’s time for a new one. Lucky for you, we’ve got plenty of vaping tanks to choose from!
Your first step will be to do little bit of vape troubleshooting to determine where the leak is coming from, and then decide what you can do to fix it:
- Is everything assembled correctly? If you didn’t screw everything together right the first time, you are going to find yourself with e-juice everywhere. The good news is, this is about as easy of a fix as you can hope for – simply take the time to do it right, and you should be good to go.
- Does the tank have any cracks? Most tanks nowadays use Pyrex or glass as the juice reservoir, with each offering certain benefits and drawbacks. The one downside to a glass reservoir is that it is more susceptible to cracking. Examine the tube carefully, looking especially closely at the end caps to see if there are any hairline fractures. If you spot even the tiniest crack, you will need to replace the tube in order to stop the leaking.
- Are the seals and o-rings placed correctly and in good condition? One of the top causes of leaking e-juice is a seal that is either cracked, missing, or just misplaced. Your device has several different seals, so examine all of them to see if you notice any crimping, damage, or looseness. Replacing these is an inexpensive fix, and can solve your leak problem altogether.
Not Enough Throat Hit
PG is the element of the e-liquid that gives a great hit, and if you’re not satisfied, you may need more PG in your juice. Check the PG/ VG ratio. The higher the PG level in a particular vape juice, the more intense throat hit you can expect. Juices with higher nicotine content can also provide the sensation. Or, you could always switch up your juice flavor and grab something with citrus or menthol notes, increasing the throaty effect.
If you’re certain it’s not the liquid, it may be time to upgrade to a more advanced device that allows you to better customize your experience. VaporFi offers a wide range of devices that provide the user with the opportunity to perfectly calibrate every aspect of their vape. For more throat hit, you will need something that lets you increase the power, decrease the airflow, or up the temperature. Experimenting with making these adjustments will help you achieve the perfect amount of throat hit. There are many top-notch brands that provide these features, including SMOK, Eleaf, Vaporesso, Sigelei, Kanger, and Joyetech.
Not Enough Vapor
You may need an e-liquid with a higher concentration of VG. VG produces the clouds, so increasing it will result in better vapor production.
There are also a few technical problems that could be causing low cloud production. The first and most obvious is a low battery. Most devices have a vaping batteryindicator light to let you know when it’s time to recharge. If you feel like the vapor production has suddenly dropped, try recharging your device and see if that helps.
If that doesn’t work, check to make sure your atomizer coil isn’t dry, and that the atomizer itself isn’t flooded. Finally, make sure that the electrical connection between the atomizer and battery appears to be functioning correctly, cleaning off any dust or grime that may have built up.
Occurs commonly when you vape right after filling the tank. Let the wick soak a bit, then see how it performs. This should make it much better.
You’re Ending Up with E-Liquid in Your Mouth
This is an especially common problem for newer vapers, or those who have just switched to a different device. If you are taking in too strong of a draw, you might find yourself with a mouthful of vape juice. The simple fix is to slow your pace; keep it steady and not overly aggressive.
Battery Keeps Cutting Off/Not Working
First things first, make sure you don’t need to charge it. Make sure you’re using the right charger; charger mixups are super common in today’s world of technology. Check to see if all connections are in fact, connected. Is your battery/ charging port clean? Dried up liquid crud can get in the way, and cause ill functioning, so be sure to keep things tidy. None of these work? It may be time for a new battery.
If your device is making gurgling sounds, you’ve probably overfilled your tank/ gotten too much liquid in the atomizer. This problem can be fixed easily by removing some of the excess juice and cleaning out the tank.
A Variety of Other Issues
In general, a long list of problems can be caused by poor maintenance of your device. Just like any other piece of machinery, your vape device needs to be properly taken care of in order to function well. If you have a mystery issue on your hands, you might be surprised to find that it could be solved by just giving everything a good old-fashioned cleaning. Take the device apart and use a cotton swab or soft cloth to gently and carefully clean every single square inch. It might sound like a tedious task, but it can actually fix a whole host of problems and save you money in the long term.
